These are risk factors for kidney disease to keep in mind according to Dr. Griffin Rogers, Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK):
- 70% of kidney failure cases are caused by diabetes and high blood pressure.
- African Americans are 3 times more likely to develop CKD than Caucasians; Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans and Seniors are at increased risk.
- Having heart disease.
- Having a history of kidney disease.
